I was a mechanic for many years and if the frame is not stripped down and sandblasted to metal there is no guaranteed method to stop the rusting. Affected are 2016-2017 Toyota Tundra trucks equipped with rear step bumpers made of resin with resin reinforcement brackets at the corners. I have read a lot of the old posts on this issue and it seems theres not much you can do to fix it or prevent it other than maybe slow it down with something like POR-15 paint.
