You can over-ride it by prying off the little rectangular plastic square by the base of the shifter and pressing down into the hole with a small screwdriver key pen or what ever is handy and shifting the car out of park at the same time. It is an intermittent issue sometimes it will go away for a few days only to return for a few days. Not sure on the tundras but older cars could get in a bind and not let it shift unless you turned the wheel to take the bind off of the steering lock.
