We had an engine out of the truck this week so I thought Id take the opportunity to film an updated timing belt video. Should i follow the engine marks or the belt marks. The new OEM Toyota timing belt will come with its own marks on it.
I installed the new belt as per all the directions specs but once installed it is on all the alignment marks but is now just off the 2 marks of each of the cams after I strecthed the belt it all alignged except now the gear belt marks do not align w marks on heads. A failed Timing belt can result in anything to an Engine that will Crank but not start to catastrophic Engine damage. Its a bit easier to see everything.

Im showing you how to align the belt with the two cams and crank so that your timing will be correct. Additionally the timing notch on each camshaft sprocket must align with their corresponding timing marks on the camshaft housings as shown.
