0w20 Vs 5w20 Toyota Tundra
Not that much of a difference between a 0W or 5W20.
0w20 vs 5w20 toyota tundra. 5 May 23 2008. Owner had a brand new Tundra probably with the 57l and she was a saleswoman for some oil additive company. I agree that you should call the dealer out on it and even if the claim the repair order for the oil change states 5w30 is a mistake too bad have them change the oil out again and make dang sure they use 5w20 oil.
If your winter temperature is not cold you can use 5w20 synthetic for 10000 miles or 5w20 conventional for 5000. 0W20 and 5W20 are winter-grade oils designed for cold weather. Personally Id switch to the 0w20 unless their is a huge price differential or you have a stash of 5w20 you need to get rid of.
14 Apr 17 2007. 0w20 is the best full synthetic but very costly. The 0W wont thicken up as much when it cools down as the 5W will so little better start up flow the 0W will flow a ltiile quicker.
So for towing or warmer temperatures or long distance driving when the engine is at full operating temperature it will have a probably marginal benefit over the 0W20. But I stick to 0W20 simply due to cold starts. You can use 5W20 all day long if you want there will never be an issue.
1 Magnoson Moss Act 2 Toyota can analize my oil all they want no way to tell brand or certs from analysis but it will read in the 0w205w20 range. So you may be wondering how they differ. Thankfully ToyotaLexus oil specs are the same.
Due to the higher tolerance of modern engine maybe Toyota do have a point at specing a 0w oil for cold winter temps. Bottom line 5W20 will work. 0W20 is fine for the winter months but in the heat of summer 5W20 will be fine.
